This sweet and tart Blueberry Lemonade is a perfect year-round beverage but is especially refreshing on a hot summer day. It’s prepared with simple ingredients and is so easy to make!
This is not only amazingly delicious, it’s prepared using pure maple syrup as the sweetening agent instead of granulated sugar. You’ll never miss the sugar but if you choose to use it instead of maple syrup, that’s perfectly fine, too!
Blueberry Lemonade Ingredients
- Blueberries – Fresh or frozen.
- Lemon juice – Freshly squeezed is best, but feel free to use bottled lemon juice if you’re short on time!
- Maple syrup – Agave syrup or granulated sugar can be substituted for maple syrup.
- Water
How to Prepare
Step 1: In a medium saucepan, stir together blueberries, syrup and ½ cup of water over medium high heat. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat as necessary to maintain a simmer. Simmer for approximately 5 minutes, or until blueberries have burst and are broken down.
Step 2: Transfer the mixture to a blender and blend until smooth. It’s important to note to EXERCISE CAUTION when blending hot liquids. Hold down the blender lid while blending because hot liquids tend to expand and may possibly blow the lid off of your blender (making a mess and potentially being a burn hazard!). You can also use an immersion blender if you have one.
Step 3: Strain the blueberry mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher and allow to cool.
Step 4: Pour the lemon juice and water into the pitcher and stir to combine. Serve immediately over ice or refrigerate until ready to serve.
Storage Instructions
Store in a pitcher with a lid (or cover with plastic wrap) in the fridge for up to 7 days.
Enjoy!
